Music from the movies and TV

We learn a lot about music that is outside what we may ordinarily consider our favourite music through the music that is used in Movies and TV (and even video games). The music in this situation is often conveying the underlying mood, the era (period of history( the action, the location or culture represented, or the personality of the characters. This means the composers for TV and film utilize a great many musical styles and devices you may not otherwise hear. You may not always be aware of it, but the experience of watching movies and TV would not be the same without the important addition of the music. Here are just a few examples
OUTER SPACE!!!!!! The music from Star Wars by John Williams has become one of the most famous film scores of all time
THE WILD WEST - the film music of Italian Composer Ennio Morricone was some of the most unique music for film ever written
DETECTIVES, THE SOUTH AND THE INCREDIBLE MUSIC OF QUINCY JONES AND RAY CHARLES
THE BOND FILMS INFLUENCED SPY MUSIC FOR DECADES

This is the love theme from Once Upon a Time in america and it is composed by the same composer that wrote The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. It show just how diverse a good film composer is as they are such different styles.

Henry Mancini wrote the unforgettable melody for the romance movie, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Moon River.
